What do you love about this watch?
Metro date power reserve ice blue is the first watch to be powered by DUW 4701, the newly developed caliber from NOMOS Glashütte. This slender, in-house built mechanical movement offers a patented quick-set date, up to 52 hours of power reserve, and a proprietary escapement. Complete with temperature-blued screws, ruby bearings, and a skeletonized balance cock, this hand-wound caliber can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal back.
The attractive finishing is not restricted to the back of the watch, as the metallic dial in ice blue gives the distinctive Metro model a refreshingly new expression. Its brushed surface reflects the light conditions around it, shifting from light blue to silver and almost white. Another first for NOMOS Glashütte, this new dial takes its inspiration from urban architecture; specifically, from the reflections of glass and steel so often found in modern buildings. A perfect choice for Londoners, in other words!

Christopher Ward C1 Loco Classic
Price: From £4,295
Movement: Calibre CW-003
Size: 41mm
Material: 904L steel
What we love about the C1 Loco Classic is how the materials used bring the design concept to life. The bright white ceramic time-telling dial has a domed surface, with laser-etched Roman numerals carefully filled with black lacquer by hand.
Beneath it, the textured base dial is coated in lacquer containing crushed mother-of-pearl, giving it a subtle sparkle that changes as it catches the light. The high lustre of the 904L stainless steel case completes the picture, its polished curves complementing the textured dial and movement-lead architecture.
An interesting detail is the precision required to finish those Roman numerals. Each is filled with black lacquer using a fine needle under a microscope, working across the curved ceramic surface. It’s a painstaking process, but the effect is truly captivating. Add more than five hours of hand-finishing across the front and rear bridges, alongside a fully bespoke free-sprung balance wheel, and there’s plenty to admire in the C1 Loco Classic.
